Nutrition(also called aliment or nourishment) according to biologists is the provision to cells of the body,of the materials necessary(in the form of food) to support life.
Nutritionists define nutrition as the intake of healthy or balanced diet for the proper growth and development of the body.
Balanced or healthy diet is a food that contains all the classes of food in their right amount. The classes of food include;Carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oil, vitamins, mineral salts and water. While macronutrients/energy(carbohydrates,proteins and fats) are essential for providing energy and replacement of worn out tissues, micronutrients(mineral salts, vitamins and water) are responsible for the freshness and tender look of the body.
Note that water is very essential to the body.Research has shown that humans can survive for two to eight weeks without food, depending on the stored body fat.But survival without water is usually limited to three or four days.
